Th'Eire

What to do when the Catholics spring a holiday or two upon you? Go to Ireland! So it was that I spent last week exploring the greater Dublin area and also tranquil little Galway on the west coast. I met some extremely friendly people with extremely Irish accents, enjoyed the Christmas lights downtown, and hit what tourist attractions I could while fighting off some viral nastiness: I went to the Guinness Storehouse—the number 1 tourist attraction in Ireland—Kilmainham Gaol (that'd be 'jail'), the National Museum of Modern Art, and of course beautiful and bustling Trinity College. (Who knew there were still so many students there??) My day in Galway was blustery, but I braved the bay anyway and soaked up a bit of the area's rocky charm. A hearty seafood chowder helped the craggy æsthetics slide right down.
